These bags are a result of a design collaboration between the design team in Notting Hill and skilled handicraft workers in Bangladesh all designed with a focus on sustainability and empowerment for the female artisans, The brand has spent over 15 years refining the traditional jute macrame bag-making technique, resulting in bags that are instantly recognizable for their unique placement of words and characters. The Jacksons bags are crafted from natural jute, which grows in abundance on marginalised land in Bangladesh, known locally as the ‘golden fibre’. This jute has a low environmental impact, absorbing a large amount of carbon dioxide while growing, making the bags virtually carbon-free.
